Speaking of merles, another huge irritant is the fact that you can find breeds that have never ever produced merles before producing this "new rare kolor!" and being sold for ridiculously high prices. Allow me to further explain:
On any internet classified website, such as craigslist, ksl, kijiji, yakaz, adpost, etc., or look in any newspaper and you're bound to see them. Ads for all kinds of puppies that are exotic, rare colors... merle!

...and gets more and more annoying with idiot backyard breeders coming up with new ways to sell the merle coloration by calling it something that sounds rare, exotic, or fancy.

Lavender merle... in reality a black merle with very small black patches/ticking and overall grayish coat.

'Breeders' that are cashing in on the merle craze are breeding this color into just about every breed imaginable because it's a beautiful, flashy color pattern that sells well. Few know the known health issues if double merles are bred accidentally or on purpose. All that matters is that they're getting the color which equals dollar signs. The fact is, the dogs they are producing are not pure-blooded dogs. The only way to get merle into breeds that have never produced merle before is to breed in some other breed that -can- produce that color, and then breed out every bit of evidence that crossbreeding occurred. These dogs are not genetically purebreds. 'Supercoated' merle schnauzers, it's known, were bred by crossing with miniature Australian shepherds. Still BYB's market them as purebreds and falsely register them, It's easy to do for the backyard asshat breeders looking to make some money. Breed in a color that's unseen, market the puppies as rare, unusual, and exotic, give the color a fancy name, and bingo, any jackass can be making money being another of the dozens of shitty Krazy Kolor breeders. All in the name of greed.
